Mayfereen Ryntathiang

president

Mayfereen is one of the of the founding members of the Grassroot. She has completed the Human Rights and Leadership study from Colombia University. She has received scholarships from Million Kisses Foundation, USA and FAO, Italy for documentation of the Khasi folklore and Herbal medicine practices respectively.

She is passionate about the work that she does and is especially passionate towards working on Indigenous issues with Indigenous people.

I am very new to the social sector but I’ve always had a passion to do something for society and improve lives. So with that thought, I joined Grassroot to contribute something to the society through the work that I’m doing. 

My contribution towards the society is to start being a compassionate and considerate human being as I always believe that a smile, a kind word, and a helping hand would definitely make the world a better place.

Memorial Khongkai

Team Lead

Memorial (AKA Memo) joined Grassroot in 2018 because she founded that her objectives of working is Community Intervention aligned with that of the organisation.

She got her calling into the social space when project area and was introduced to the harsh reality that street children face everyday 

Lyntiborn Marngar

Team Lead

Prior to Grassroot, Lynti worked as an Associate Programme Manager for Center for Microfinance & Livelihood (CML), a TATA trust initiatve, focused on Skills and Enterprise promotion.

She is currently under the fellowship program in Grassroot and is passionate about working in and empowering the rural sector. 

Iaidonlang Rumnong

Accountant

Iaidon describes himself as a man of his words with strong commitments. He is an accountant by passion and loves accounting. He expresses his excitement to contribute his skills and experience at Grassroot.

Chenmiki Laloo

Team Lead

Our Programme Officer, Bah Chen completed his MSW with Community Development as his specialization from Assam Don Bosco University. One of his biggest achievements is being awarded a project titled Inclusive Football for Gender and Peace by Katradi and U.S. Consulate General, Kolkata.

He is very passionate towards working with the youth and indigenous communities in rural areas.

Abhishek Pde

Communications Officer

Abhishek completed his Master’s in Journalism and Mass Communication from Jain University, Bangalore with a specialization in Social Media & Digital Marketing.

He is relatively new to the social sector and want to use his skills for the benefit of those in need.

Manly B Rani

Programme Associate

Manly describes himself as a friendly person who can easily blend-in with anyone.

He completed his BA from Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore and is currently pursuing his Msc in Electronic Media from Pondicherry University

I am passionate about my work. Because I love what I do, I have steady source of motivation that drives me to do my best.

Vivian Oswin Pajuh

Programme Associate

Vivian calls himself a ‘local guy’ from Shillong. He completed his MSW from St. Aloysius College, Mangalore with a Specialization in Community Development.

Vivian had earlier volunteered at Grassroot in our Behavioral Change Community (BCC) as a trainer on Covid-19 awareness.

Wungreithan Awungshi

Fellowship Awardee

Wungreithan (aka Jim), was born in Manipur but raised in Shillong which he considers his second home.

Jim has a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies and has completed his M.Phil in Inclusive Development & Social Justice from Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS). He is also a PhD candidate at TISS Mumbai. 

We are a passionate team of young and vibrant minds who explores potentiality and ideas to cater to the welfare and rights of the indigenous people of the state. We believe in accessibility, responsibility, and equal opportunities for everyone. Our mission is to sustain and tap the community’s resources and to empower them individually and socially.
